What the future holds - Arish Naresh


Arish Naresh was appointed as Chair of NZDOHTA after this years annual general meeting. His first activity has been to lead the Board through a strategic planning process and to revise our Vision. "We are a team of caring Oral Health professionals who empower all people to achieve an improved quality of life while upholding the integrity of our profession."

Arish will share his aims and ambitions for the future of Oral Health in New Zealand.

 

With the release by the Dental Council of the Standards Framework for Oral Health Practitioners, every oral health practitioner is required to take responsibility for their own professional development. This Masterclass will help you reach your potential in lifelong learning. You will gain skills on how to identify, select and maximise your learning needs and opportunities.


As well, you will development skills in delivering training to those around you. This is an invaluable programme for all health professionals, whether you are in a management position, are a team leader or a valuable team member.

10 life lessons from a pulp and paper mill - Susan Reid


At the end of this session, you will have identified what you are doing well and how that impacts on your patients, families and colleagues. You will have recognised areas for future personal development. At the end of the day you will have your own professional development plan for the future and you will have had plenty of fun along the way.

A keynote speaker at this event is Karen Guilliland (MNZM). Some of you may know Karen from when she led New Zealand's first equal pay case for women in 1993, winning midwives the right to be paid the same as doctors when doing the same maternity work. Karen was the founding President and is the current CEO of the New Zealand College of Midwives.

 

Karen leads the strategic development and policy management on behalf of National Committee. Karen provides leadership and direction for the New Zealand College of Midwives team and is currently co-chair of the ICMs' Scientific Planning Committee.

 

 

Kids'Cam - Moira Smith

 

Moira Smith reports on the current University of Otago, Wellington research investigating children's food environments. Kids'Cam is an innovative study in which 169 Wellington children wore cameras for four days that automatically took images every 7 seconds to record their everyday food environments.

 

At the end of this session you will undersand the implications of this research on oral health, oral health professionals and public health action.
